Workshop on Native Trees of Punjab

Two-day workshop on Native Trees of Punjab and visit to Balckbuck sanctuary Abohar was organised at Periwal Farm, Village Khippanwali, Abohar on 28 and 29 January 2023. Members and volunteers of SOCH attended the workshop. Day one was marked by walk in the healing forest followed by detailed discussion on role of trees and forests in the environment with special emphasis on native trees. Later on, a visit was organised to the Citrus orchards and prticipants were briefed about organic fruit production and gobar gas production and utilization. In the evening, documentaries about Abohar and Periwal family were scree    ned followed by bonfire. Visit to Blackbuck sanctuary in Seto Gunno and surrounding village was organised on the second day. Participants were delighted by the sightings of Blackbuck, Neelgai and migratory birds in the sanctuary and were apprised about the first environmental movement of the World ‘Khajerli Massacre’ at Amrita Devi Memorial.
